The benefits of herbs Part 1

There are many benefits from using herbs in our home. They can be found as spices, herbal teas, beauty products or aromatherapy like candles and essential oils. Different combinations of vitamins, minerals and components may have powerful actions for health/wellness - this is known as 'herbalism'.

1. What are herbs

Herbs are plants that grow in the wild, they can be found all over the world.  There are many different types of herbs, but we will only discuss two: culinary and medicinal. Culinary herbs are used to flavor food while medicinal herbs have been used for centuries as treatments for various ailments.  The most popular culinary herbs include basil, thyme, oregano, sage and rosemary; these help enhance flavors in any dish! Medicinal herbs include ginger which is good for nausea and pain relief. Other popular medicinal options include peppermint (for stomach aches) or chamomile (relieves anxiety).
